Today O'Brien® is firmly the leader in automotive and home and business glass replacement and one of the most trusted brand names in Australia. We pride ourselves on the quality of our employees, our workmanship and our commitment to providing first class service to every one of our customers.

1920s

Frank G O'Brien starts to build his own home glass replacement company (Frank G. O'Brien Limited) from a little workshop in Waterloo, Sydney.

1940s

Business includes Domestic & Commerical Glazing, Shopfitting, Shatter proofing of shopfronts as war moves closer to Australia, manufacturing of windscreens for aircraft, manufacture of hand mirrors for troops, and Armour Plate glass is introduced.

1970s

Became part of the Belron group, beginning a new phase of growth and automation in the business.

Company renamed O'Brien Glass Industries P/L. Under this banner O'Brien business splits - creating Windscreens O'Brien and O'Brien Glass.

2000s

O'Brien® acquires Laser Plumbing & Electrical - the leading electrical and plumbing contracting network in Australasia.

O'Brien® Plumbing and Electrical is born, providing a full offering of expert solutions for customers across Australia.

Laser Plumbing & Electrical share a similar history to O’Brien®, with their story beginning in 1983 as an electrical contractor in New Zealand. The business branched out into the Australian market in 2004 to become the leading electrical and plumbing contracting network in Australia and New Zealand.

O’Brien® and Laser Plumbing & Electrical joined forces in 2018 to create a full offering of expert solutions for customers across Australia, which is how O’Brien Electrical & Plumbing was born.
