  I had a major issue with this rental. Paid for a type of car, and got a inferior model.
  Also , I was sold a very expensive an unnecessary insurance. There was other cheaper option, and was not informed. I have try to contact costumer service multiple times, and they are taking more than 10 days to reply each email. I would not recommend to use this service

  Had an incident at gas station. Managed to call the 24hr roadside assistance for help. But was put on hold for a long time as they could not get hold of AVIS. Over the phone, I could not confirm if replacement car is given. So for about 20min, there was much uncertainty if help is on the way. Finally they called back the gas station and the manager of gas station said tow truck is on the way and probably will have a replacement truck. When the tow truck arrived, the serviceman said he was told there will be no replacement car and also as we have a kid, he could not fetch us back to the airport as he did not have a baby safety seat. AVIS does know we have a kid as we rented car seat from them. Tried to call AVIS for help several times but the numbers are engaged. In the end we are left stranded at the gas station on our own with no suggestion/alternatives offered. What a nightmare.
  
  In the end, we called a taxi to get to the airport to see if there is a misunderstanding and to confirm if there is a replacement. Upon reaching the AVIS rental desk at the airport, a damaged report was ready for me to fill up (they must have been expecting me to appear at the airport even though they did not offer alternative transport). When I asked about the replacement car in person, they finally explained that they do not offer it for such incident and neither can I get a new rental from them. I believe these can also be stated over the phone so that we can decide to get to the next nearest rental company for a new car.
  
  Such poor customer service, communication and rental policy. Be careful about AVIS.
  
  Note: they also charges the card in USD, even though the bill is in AUD. If you are a non US traveler, the USD will eventually be converted to your home currency. This means there is double FX loss.

  PRICE GOUGING for the school holiday period. Daily rate for a compact car has jumped from about $60 to $180. CARTEL operating at Hobart Airport. AVOID!!
